Who was Johnny Gaudreau?

On July 12, 2023, Johnny Gaudreau and his brother were killed in a car accident in Calgary, Alberta. The driver of the other vehicle, 24-year-old Matthew DeSerres, was charged with impaired driving causing death and dangerous driving causing death.

According to police, DeSerres had a blood alcohol level of .087 at the time of the accident. The legal blood alcohol limit in Alberta is .05.
